Pvt. John C. Hehn, Jr., died December 8, 1918, of wounds received in action.
Born on Dec. 4, 1893, in Nutley, he is the son of John Christopher and Ella Hehn, of Bloomfield Avenue, Newark, the 1910 U.S. Census lists siblings Peter, Earl and Langdon. Hehn registered for the draft from Somerville, Mass. Pvt. Hehn is buried at Riverside Cemetery, Montgomery, Orange County, N.Y.

Hehn arrived in France on July 1, 1918, and was transferred to
Company D, 128th Infantry and was wounded by shrapnel in the field
on August 30. He was taken to a military hospital in Paris where he
had three operations, each removing parts of his brain.
